FROM OBSERVATION TO LESSON

A useful recommendation.
A clear teaching decision.

Review the context, confirm the focus, and choose an exercise. These fictional examples show how recommendations could support your judgment across speaking skills.

Fictional learner · workplace EnglishFor teacher review

Express agreement with a verb, not an adjective.

Context

Responding to a colleague’s proposal in a project discussion.

EXAMPLE UTTERANCE

“I am agree with the proposal.”

ALTERNATIVE TO DISCUSS

“I agree with the proposal.”

01 / INTERPRET

What to check

Confirm the learner intends to express agreement. Here, agree is the main verb, so am is unnecessary. Contrast “I agree” with “I am happy with the proposal.”

02 / PRACTICE

A focused teaching move

Offer three workplace proposals. Ask the learner to agree or disagree and give one reason, using their own opinion.

03 / REVISIT

Look for transfer

Return to a different proposal later in the lesson. Listen for an unprompted “I agree” or “I disagree”; record what you hear.

A FOCUSED FOLLOW-UP

From a recommendation to a 15-minute plan.

A sample sequence combining grammar and pronunciation. Select the priorities that fit the learner; there is no need to address every observation.

  1. 03 minConfirm the context

Ask for the original meaning and a natural spoken example.

  2. 04 minPractice one sentence pattern

Agree or disagree with a new proposal and explain why.

  3. 04 minWork on one sound contrast

Listen, compare, then return to the work phrase.

  4. 04 minTry a fresh conversation

Revisit both focuses without reading the model answer.

A BRIEF, NOT ANOTHER INBOX

Useful before
the lesson begins.

The local app can export selected goals into a teacher brief. Learners choose the text they share; audio is not attached automatically. Open it in a browser or print it for a lesson.

Learners can also opt in to include a current saved English profile from selected recordings; it is excluded by default. The brief includes cited excerpts, sources, limitations and recent estimate dates and ranges. Vocabulary and grammar ranges are tentative; organization and an overall range may lack enough evidence. Full transcripts and audio are not included. This is not a pronunciation, listening or full proficiency assessment, or a certification.

KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN

Different students.
Specific next steps.

These fictional student cards illustrate how a future teacher view could organize learning focuses. Today, learners choose their own examples and prepare a brief to share with a teacher. Bring your judgment to those examples, with room for each learner’s voice.
